In a world filled with status quos, what if our goal isn’t “normal?” What if instead the goal is to lean into Jesus as we carry our grief, joy, pain, hope—you name it?
In children’s ministry, we have the opportunity to help prepare children for the things they will face in life. We get to speak life into them that they can recall God’s truth as they experience hurt, temptation, decision making, and more. This is even more imperative with the research we see around mental health in children and youth today.
Kids and teens need to know that God cares about their fears, anxieties, and worries. We often tell them to “cast their anxieties on Him (1 Peter 5:7) and to bring their worries to God in prayer (Philippians 4:6-7).
Yet too often, we stop there. So, let’s ask:
- What does it look like to abide in Jesus in everyday life?
- How do we help connect the Bible to their lives?
- How do we come alongside kids and families in dealing with the pressures of life?
