The Importance of Caring for Your Soul in the Midst of Everything Else

Paula Mazza, M.A. is the Director of Children’s and Preteen Ministries at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, a place she has called home since she was 10 years old. With 30+ years experience serving families through her local church, Paula Mazza is a life-long preteen advocate who trains ministry leaders while completing her doctorate in family care at Bethel Seminary. Paula and her husband host and produce the Grace in Real Time Podcast which focuses on conversations around mental health, faith and authentic community.  In addition, Paula is facilitator of the Engage Certificate in Pastoral Care which exists in partnership with Bethel Seminary and the International Network of Children’s Ministry (INCM). She serves as a longtime partner with FourFiveSix.org and is the founder of www.preteenmentalhealth.com.

God created your soul to reflect His image, and in you He has delicately created something He declares extraordinary. Do you know He loves you beyond all measure? Have you spent time with Him lately?

In everything—every season, every situation, and every moment—He calls each of us to nurture our souls through our relationship with Him. After all, it’s from our souls that our relationships with Him grow. It’s where the Holy Spirit lives and speaks. God is who sustains us—not work, not books, not friends, not things. Although none of these things are bad, why do we often casually allow time with Jesus to be squeezed from our days and replaced with anything of lesser eternal value?
